Exploration I: MK Future Vision

Milton Keynes was envisioned as a “city of the future” — a bold, modernist solution to house those overspilling from London and beyond. But the promise fell short. Its sprawling layout bred disconnection, private development overshadowed cohesive design, and public transport lagged behind, leaving the city’s inclusive ideals adrift.

Now, struggling to find its soul, MK is often seen as
bland and lifeless.

Yet that perception can change.

Positioned at the heart of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, with ambitions to become the UK’s Silicon Valley, there is a rare opportunity to reimagine its future.
